My name is Nthabiseng Hata, and I am a proud graduate of Glen College of Agriculture, where I completed my Diploma in Agriculture in 2022.
My journey with Glen College started from a place of curiosity. I wanted to explore agriculture and gain a deeper understanding of the sector. However, what began as curiosity soon developed into a true passion. Through the College’s unique approach of combining practical training with theoretical knowledge, I gained valuable hands-on experience that helped me understand agriculture beyond the classroom.
The practical exposure at Glen College allowed me to apply what I learned, work directly with agricultural enterprises, and experience the realities of the industry. It gave me a deeper appreciation of agriculture, not only as a field of study but as a career with endless opportunities.
During my time at Glen College, I remained committed to academic excellence and performed exceptionally well. My dedication created opportunities for me when an agricultural company approached the College seeking potential interns. I was fortunate to be among the students selected for interviews, and after successfully completing the process, I secured an opportunity with the company. Today, I continue to work there as a Quality Controller at the Fresh Produce Market.
Although I specialised in Plant Production, Glen College provided me with a broad agricultural foundation. The College encouraged holistic learning, allowing me to participate in animal production enterprises and gain exposure to different areas of agriculture. This experience expanded my knowledge and helped me become a more versatile agricultural professional.
One of the things I deeply appreciate about Glen College is its commitment to making agricultural education accessible. Through the support of the College for financially disadvantaged students, I managed to register at the College and successfully completed my studies. This creates opportunities for passionate students who may otherwise face financial challenges in pursuing their dreams.
The strong foundation I received at Glen College motivated me to continue developing myself academically. After graduating, I pursued an Advanced Diploma in Agricultural Management at the Central University of Technology, and I am currently completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Management.
Glen College of Agriculture did not only teach me about crop production; it shaped my future, prepared me for the workplace, helped me secure employment, and opened doors I never imagined possible.
I am truly grateful for the knowledge, opportunities, and support I received during my time at Glen College. I would highly recommend the College to anyone who is passionate about agriculture and wants to build a meaningful career in the sector.
“Glen College gave me more than an education; it gave me practical skills, confidence, and a foundation for my future in agriculture.”
