Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

A formal process to assess and recognise skills, knowledge, and competencies acquired through work experience, informal learning, or previous training — without starting from scratch.


Allows mature or experienced individuals to gain admission into a formal qualification programme without meeting traditional entry requirements such as a Grade 12 certificate.


Enables applicants to obtain credits or exemptions for specific modules where they can already demonstrate existing knowledge and competencies from prior experience.

Learnerships — NQF Levels 1–4

Structured work-based learning combining classroom instruction with practical workplace experience — in Animal Production or Crop Production. Nationally recognised qualifications designed primarily for youth development in agriculture.
